Kristen Wynn, Lead Photographer and Owner

I’m Kristen Wynn, lead photographer and owner of Kristen Wynn Photography. I specialize in being the primary shooter for all of our weddings, engagements, and a limited number of family sessions. I emphasize modern posed photography, thoroughness of coverage, and classic colors.

As for education, I’m a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University for my undergrad in Communications and Robert Morris University for my teaching certificate and master’s degree in Instructional Leadership.

I began in the photography industry as a part-time assistant to a wedding photographer from 2004-2009. Following a year of portfolio-building, I opened Kristen Wynn Photography in January of 2010 in central Florida and then relocated back to beautiful Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in April of 2013; we’re so happy to serve the wonderful clients of this city!

As a wedding photographer, my biggest focus of the day is on the couple’s portraits. Capturing you and your new spouse together in photographs on such a joyous, special day is important to me because of a devastating loss in my personal life. Eleven years ago, my beloved husband unexpectedly passed away. During the difficult months and years after his passing, I credit my work with giving me a purpose and focus for my passion and intensity. I carry Steve’s memory with me and strive to make him proud in all that I do.

My favorite moment of a wedding day is when the new Mr. and Mrs. are announced into the reception because of the anticipation right before the doors are opened, the cheering of friends and family, and the happiness on the face of the couple.

When I’m not photographing, I enjoy attempting do-it-yourself projects around the house (with varying degrees of success), being a new kitty cat mama to Sputnik the Siberian, personal productivity/to-do lists, traveling, and writing.

I’m unapologetically unfancy with always messy hair.  I’ve traveled to eat in Michelin-star restaurants (Noma in Copenhagen and the French Laundry in Yountville, CA if you’re into that sort of thing!), but also equally enjoy going to my local Wendy’s for a chili and a “big pop” – a large Diet Dr. Pepper. I’ve traveled to Thailand and stayed in a luxury hotel, but I’ve also shared the least expensive room on a Carnival cruise with my sister and taken many a road trip/camping trip as a vacation.

The same approach can be said for my wedding coverage – I feel equally at home at the Omni William Penn, the Pennsylvanian, or the Fox Chapel Golf Club as I do at the local firehall or in a backyard tent after witnessing your ceremony in your hometown church. We meet you where you are, we match your energy and vibe, we are happy to be there, professional, and blend in to your day. No two work days are ever the same for me (organized, perfect chaos as most weddings are!)  We love the diversity and the unique parts of all weddings – after 365 weddings, I am still photographing each wedding like it’s my first and my last!

This business isn’t about me though – it’s about you, your memories, and your timeless moments. Forever looks like this. Customer satisfaction is my number one priority. If you would like my photographs to tell your story, please use the contact link at left – I look forward to hearing from you!

I couldn’t do this all without my team! Read on to learn about Allison and Amy!
Allison-assistant

Allison Wynn, Photographer’s Assistant

Allison serves as photographer’s assistant for many of our weddings and sessions. She is primarily in charge of organizing the day, taking care of all the miscellaneous details, putting together social media posts, photographing candids, watching the timeline, doing the heavy lifting, working our lighting equipment, and bossing her older sister Kristen around (I joke – but yes, she does push me to be my absolute best and I appreciate that!)

Her favorite part of a wedding day is the first look because of the emotions it captures and its positive impact on the couple’s photo variety and timelines. Allison’s future goals for KWP are improving her shooting ability for ceremony and reception candids and photojournalism. Allison is a 2009 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, majoring in psychology; she is entering her fourteenth season as an assistant and her eleventh season as the primary KWP assistant.

When Allison isn’t working with the Kristen Wynn Photography team, she enjoys traveling (her previous trips have included Iceland, London, the Bahamas, Hong Kong, Austin, San Diego, New Orleans, Costa Rica, South Africa, Thailand, and Australia), renovating her newly purchased home, Bravo shows, and spending time with her dog Hunter.

Amy Forbes Wells, Editor

Amy is the editor for all of our weddings and sessions here at Kristen Wynn Photography. She also does album design. We are so happy to have her aboard!

Amy is based out of Charlotteville, Virginia, where she has a thriving portrait photography business focusing on newborns and babies. You can find her awesome work at Skybird Photo and Design.

Prior to becoming a full-time photography and editing professional, Amy worked as a licensed and registered Interior Designer. This skill set allows her to bring a knowledge of color and design to her image and album edits.

When Amy isn’t editing, she enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband and daughter first and foremost! She also enjoys hanging out with her beautiful cats and going to Pilates and the gym.

Amy’s known for loving the Oxford comma, two spaces after periods at the end of a sentence, her obsession with non-gender specific toys for her little one, and her Photoshop exploits and creative Christmas cards!
