Jackie and Jeff have been together for many years, but never made it official!. Their niece Megan contacted me right before their backyard wedding and I traveled out to their beloved family vacation home in Shanksville with just a few days’ notice.

This wedding was heartfelt and casual. I loved hearing how the cottage had been their grandparents and how any kind of dress up event at the property was out of the ordinary – one of the cousins told me most of the ladies don’t even bring makeup when they visit and stay every summer, let alone wedding attire.

We did a variety of different family photos to emphasize everyone being gathered all together and then right after the emotional ceremony, everyone got more casual, changing into shorts and swimsuits for rides in the boat – Jeff even captained one of the cruises around the lake.

If you follow our blog, you know we usually list out all the vendors that made the day happen – but in this case, there were no vendors. Family and friends were making the food in the small kitchen and serving on the deck with the adorable family dogs underfoot and aunts were outside at the ceremony site moving the potted plants around, debating where just the right spot was for the ceremony with the background to be the lake view. There was a flash mob rehearsed and cornhole boards being made with handprints and a wholesome printed sign on one of the first floor shared bathrooms indicating that room was reserved for Jackie as a bridal suite. The whole vibe was summer camp and family reunion on Cape Cod and I am thankful to get a glimpse into people’s lives and share their first official day of marriage. Congratulations to the newlyweds and thanks to the whole family for selecting me as part of your very special intimate gathering.
