When doing Abby and Brian’s engagement session, I remember thinking “oh, this girl knows how to move – she knows her angles.” That was definitely apparent in their first dance – more on that later!
The ladies got ready at Residence Inn on the North Side, just a short drive away from the Priory. Abby and Brian are big national park people and met while attending Penn State – I loved learning more about them. (They also have an adorable dog named Etta who couldn’t make the wedding, but was there in spirit with custom napkins! She was at the engagement session though!)
The guys got ready at the Priory and there was a little fun prank the groomsmen cooked up – they all got Etta’s face printed on their socks and got a pair made for Brian as well.
Then we did a first look in the courtyard of the Priory – but before that first look, the officiant/groomsman dressed up and tricked Brian for a fake first look (he was dressed as like a bishop I believe?)
Abby and Brian and the whole crew took to the streets surrounding the Priory and a neighbor asked if they wanted to pose with his classic Cadillac. Now that’s something different and unique from other weddings we’ve done – the kind neighbor pulled the car out front and we had a ton of fun getting different poses with it! Then it was off to grab a few quick yellow bridge photos. Attending the cocktail hour was important to the couple, so we polished off family formals as well.
The ceremony was done by Wyatt (also the aforementioned groomsman) and it was funny and touching! I have two favorite parts of the evening – one, the first dance, when Brian and Abby just CRUSHED it and I was so excited and giving them thumbs up as they nailed the dips and the lift! And seeing Abby and Brian walking in the street with their champagne glasses as the headlights of the cars came on behind them and we walked back to the Priory.
Note to the couple:
Abby and Brian, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! It was a pleasure to work with the two of you! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
