When I was driving around looking for photo spots for Lindsay and Verne’s wedding, I saw a nice brewery in downtown New Ken, and I thought “oh that looks new and a neat place!” And as I drove by, I saw it was House of 1,000 Beers, which is where Lindsay and Verne first met after being introduced by a mutual friend.
Lindsay and the ladies got ready at Hampton Inn Harmarville – previously, I would do photos here in an abandoned lot next door – but on this particular wedding, the light was absolutely so pretty behind the hotel for the ladies’ photos. The dresses (Azazie – Dusty Blue) really popped for this summertime wedding. The guys got ready at Verne and Lindsay’s new home – which was beautifully decorated, and I loved their window treatments on their house.
Lindsay and Verne didn’t have a long courtship by today’s standards – when you know, you know! Verne proposed at the Basilica at their alma mater, St. Vincent College. The Catholic faith plays an important part in their lives. They set a date for almost a year later and selected a summertime wedding as Lindsay is a teacher. This was a large guest list too – so they went with Syria Shriners Center, one of the venues in town that can hold close to 300 people!
We went to a lovely park, AK Valley Park, for photos and everything was in bloom. This was also a sentimental spot, as Verne’s parents had worked here previously when it was the old Alcoa complex, before its transformation into a park. We love tailoring our coverage – Lindsay doesn’t love loud noises (like a pop of champagne or confetti) so we are happy to accommodate and did something different with the noiseless streamers for them – and the streamers stay attached to the hand, so there is no mess on the ground.
During the toasts, I loved hearing about their love together – they both loved the movie musical Greatest Showman and they made that their last dance of the night! At the end of the night, I teared up saying goodbye to Lindsay and Verne – it was such a special day and I loved spending the day with them!
Note to the couple:
Lindsay and Verne, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! It was a pleasure to work with the two of you! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
