Michael and Lena are new to Pittsburgh! They previously lived in New Jersey and are new Pittsburghers. Therefore, it was so wonderful for their families to make the trip in for the big event!
Lena and Michael are really practical and I LOVED their idea of getting their wedding attire on and doing all the portraits about a month prior. Sure, it takes a little extra on the hair and makeup and floral to do this in advance, but it is AMAZING as a photographer. You get to control the lighting, the locations, you can reschedule due to weather, you can go to many more spots, you can really spend the time to perfect the image and try new things. They even had some of these wedding photos up at their ceremony and reception as decor.
On the wedding day, these two opted to skip over flat lays and “getting dressed” shots but they still saw each other before the ceremony to get all their photos on the grand staircase accomplished. I have never photographed a courthouse wedding before and I loved this so much – I love old building and cool architecture and light illuminating the face with lots of darkness behind to really bring out the subject. You could photograph in the courthouse for hours!
After the ceremony on the grand staircase, everyone enjoyed an intimate dinner and dancing in the County Courthouse Courtyard. Say that three times fast. The architecture and beauty of this space needs little decoration and the fountain makes a lovely focal point. The weather was delightful and the rain held off as they danced and mingled and enjoyed.
