Jocelyn is such a sweet spirit and she was so organized leading up to her wedding day. I saw on her Instagram some very sweet engagement photos of her and Chris on the beach (he was lifting her up, etc) so I knew they would be so fun to photograph on their wedding day.
What we didn’t factor in was the heat! It’s almost never 95 degrees in mid-May here in Pittsburgh! Whew, good thing the church had A/C and so did the reception! We started the day at Jocelyn’s parents’ home. You might remember this prep location from when Jocelyn’s sister Joelle got married in 2019. The house is beautiful and light-filled and we had so much fun doing the prep, especially photographing under a tree that is meaningful to their family and Jocelyn did a first look with her dad.
The guys were just a few minutes away at Jocelyn and Chris’s house, which was freshly painted a nice light gray and looked great for photos. Chris got ready with the groomsmen, but with all the chaos, he forgot to put his vest on! Luckily, that was rectified once he arrived at church (a quick trip home and he was all set!)
The church ceremony is so interesting to photograph – there is a betrothal ceremony done in the back of the church before the couple comes to the front together and officially gets married.
After the ceremony, we headed to an awesome photo spot. The drive from Belle Vernon to Canonsburg/Washington has lots of private property, but not a ton of great photo locations that are easy for the limos to pull in and provide shade. I fortunately found this on my scouting trip (drove right past it at first!) and secured permission – I love that the vibe/location was different than her sister’s photos, which we did at a park. I try to always tailor my coverage for the client and give every client something different and unique!
The couple had a packed dance floor and a rocking reception – love their tradition of the dollar dance and the groom breaking in to grab the bride!
Note to the couple:
Jocelyn and Chris, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! It was a pleasure to work with the two of you! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
