A year and a week – that’s how long Megan and Corey had to wait for their wedding – and they’re still having to wait for their European honeymoon, thanks, omicron variant.
Megan and Corey have been through the ringer with wedding planning. It started with their original venue, Noah’s Event Center, closing on them! So we figured that would be their biggest wedding snafu. But then, a month later, Covid. And Megan knew by summer she would have to postpone – which was the right choice, because by Thanksgiving 2020, things were shutting down again!
And with her wedding, with most of her friends married, they were more than ready to get on with it! In the meantime, they did get an adorable silver lab named Rooney – so it was a good year to get a puppy!
We lucked out – the day was chilly but the sun was absolutely gorgeous. Who would have thought gloomy old Pittsburgh would have some of the most gorgeous sun this fall and winter?
Megan’s colors were ones I haven’t seen before – a light dusty purple velvet for the bridesmaids’ dresses which matched the neckline of Megan’s dress, a V.
The couple did a first look at the hotel and got a few photos with Rooney, who was very excited and confused. Then we headed up to Harmony, just a short drive from Cranberry Marriott, for portraits. I like using brightly colored areas like this when the leaves are off the trees – it just gives a little extra to the background.
We had a ton of fun with the bridal party, keeping it light and enjoying the photo time. Then it was back to the Marriott – and here’s where I am so glad they did a first look. You could really feel the chill in the air starting around 3:30 in the shade at the Marriott – so the temperature was much more comfortable for them earlier in the day!
We finished up family photos and then headed to the ceremony and the reception. I loved the neon sign above the head table and all the candles in the reception room. I will say – Megan and Corey had the best food spread of 2021 I think – their stations were BBQ and pasta and there was too much food. Their cake was interesting too – I definitely saw a layer of I think Oreos! And then the kicker – ice cream to go with that cake – as their sign said, it’s never too cold for ice cream!
It’s been a long time coming for these two, who met years ago working at a day camp and then have been engaged since Easter time 2019. We’ve been working together for about two and a half years and I am glad they finally could have their beautiful day!
Note to the couple:
Megan and Cory, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! It was a pleasure to work with the two of you! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
